Cellulite is a very common, normal variation in skin texture that affects up to 90% of adults at some point in their lives, and is more common in women because of the nature of the subcutaneous tissue layers.
Several types of cellulite are common. In our clinical experience, we group it broadly into three:
- Diffuse (soft) cellulite
- Distinct, deep cellulite dimples
- Mixed variety
Cellulite is difficult to change, and treatments aim to improve its appearance rather than remove it.
For diffuse (soft) cellulite, we offer Venus Legacy, a non-surgical radiofrequency treatment that aims to improve the appearance of cellulite. Results vary between individuals.
Large, distinct dimples — usually found on the buttocks and outer thighs — are caused by fibrous bands that tether the skin to the deeper layers. Options that aim to release these bands may be discussed; this involves a minor in-clinic procedure performed by the treating doctor. A practitioner explains what it involves, the risks, downtime and recovery at consultation. No single approach suits everyone.
Treatment at MedAesthetics is overseen by Dr Ehsan Jadoon (MED0001586460) — Registered Medical Practitioner (general registration).
Individual results vary, and all cosmetic procedures carry risks and possible side effects — these are discussed with you at your consultation.
